Angenita Hardy-Teekens is raising money to help the funding of a vital second wind turbine for Othona Bradwell. She will be attempting to repeat her swim across the Blackwater estuary after a gap of 20 years on the 21st August this year. Please support her in this fantastic venture by visiting her JustGiving page in the link below. All those who make a donation will not only be helping us to reduce our carbon footprint here but they will also have their names stencilled on the new windmill. The target is £5,000 so please give Angenita your support.

There was a great interview this morning with Tim about the impact of the proposed new nuclear power station on Othona and the Chapel. It was on the BBC radio 4 Sunday programme this morning. Click on the link below to listen, it is about 9 minutes into the programme.

There was a wonderful audio piece featuring the Othona Community on Radio 3 last night as part of a series celebrating Essex (Odes to Essex) by the writer Ken Worpole. In this episode he explores Essex as a place of retreat and refuge. The whole episode is well worth listening to but if you are in a rush then the section on Othona starts at just over 8 minutes in. Ken visited Othona a few years ago to attend a writers event and has very good memories from his time here. Click on the link below to listen to the episode.

We are sad to announce that we have had to cancel all our planned events including Christmas and New Year in response to the latest government guidelines. At present the plan is for the Bradwell Centre to remain closed until the end of February unless circumstances change. We took this decision with heavy hearts as we know that many people were looking forward to being part of the Community at this time.

The current Tier 2 restrictions mean that it is almost impossible for us to run Community events. There is real hope of a return to normal life next year and this will enable us to function as a Community again. We feel that it would be not in the right spirit of the restrictions imposed at present to run events that promote mingling thereby potentially contributing to the... Read More

Nick has kindly donated the prints (plus the associated costs) to help the fundraising campaign for Othona Bradwell. Each print will come with a signed numbered limited edition label on the back.
