Astronomy Week ***CAMPING ONLY***

Astronomy for all

Saturday 10th August -  Saturday 17th August 2024

Led by Roger Noble

A great week for anyone intrigued by the universe and human efforts to uncover its secrets. With astronomer Roger Noble who gives brilliantly illustrated talks and brings a powerful telescope for us all to try some practical astronomy.

The dates for this week include the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, the best annual display of shooting stars. So they should be a highlight, as long as we get clear skies, of our evening observations.

Roger's talks focus on general aspects of the universe as well as some of the latest findings in astronomy and space exploration.

This year we'll learn more about the instruments astronomers use. The James Webb Space Telescope is making news with its amazing exploration of the early universe.

Professional Astronomer Roger Noble, who retired from Jodrell Bank Observatory in 2017, returns with his telescope and talks.
