Vera Higginson 22/1/1920-12/10/2019

We are sad to announce the death of Vera Higginson, just short of her hundredth birthday. Vera and Bernard came to the Community in 1963 brought like so many by Harold Johnson and they remained faithful members of Othona ever since. They were great workers and were part of the party cutting down the brambles during the first year at what was then our new centre at Burton Bradstock and members of the working parties which kept Bradwell going in 1980. Vera was also secretary to the executive committee for some years.

In the war Vera worked as a wireless mechanic in the RAF and she remained very proud of her RAF connection and often spoke of it. She and Bernard were married in 1944, they were both volunteer probation officers, visiting prisoners and their families and helping and supporting them on release. They both had other voluntary roles especially within their Church family, where they were loyal members for so many years.

We send our love and condolences to Martin, Ruth (Roo), Jan and Colin.

There will be a Memorial service for Vera in the Chapel on the 4th April 2020.
