Very sad to share the news that longstanding community member Steve Stone passed away on Easter Sunday. Steve had been coming to Othona for most of his 60 years and was known and loved by many. His unique presence and sense of humour will be much missed.
Steve enjoyed spending time at Othona, loved the landscape and the wildlife, and the weird and wonderful characters, of which he was definitely one himself! Steve was an early riser, often to be found enjoying a coffee and a roll-up on the stoep around dawn. This was his favourite time of day at Othona, and the best time for interesting conversations. Steve was very devoted to his family, but never took life, or himself, too seriously. He brought his distinctive take on existence and sense of humour to every situation.
Steve had been unwell for some time and died peacefully at home. Clare, Daniel and Zoe would like to thank everyone for the huge amount of love and support that has been felt during this time.
There will be a Memorial service and celebration for Steve at the Othona Community, on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 13th September, to which all are warmly welcomed. Please book in the usual way if you would like to attend, either as a day visitor or overnight.
