Henry Savill

We are sad to announce the death of Henry Savill, who for many years was a trustee of the Community. It was through meeting Henry in 1961 as a new member of his congregation at Navestock that Norman Motley discovered that East hall Farm was up for sale and which set in motion the purchase of the farm. Henry and his wife Gillian were soon visiting the Community at Bradwell and in due course the whole family became involved, first Hugh and then his brothers.

Because of his expertise in property and financial matters Henry was invited to become a trustee and for many years worked hard on behalf of the Community as Robert Ricks writes:

“I first got to know Henry when I joined the trustees and later became chairman. He was already an established trustee and long term member. His businesslike approach and ability to get things done were invaluable to the trustees and therefore to the Othona Community as a whole. This was particularly so when the Community came to review its assets and after consultation decided to sell the farm in 2007."

Our sympathies go to Gillian and all the family. The funeral is at Stamford Rivers Church at 11am on 12th April.
