“This is the test of silence, that it brings us to peace with ourselves and with others. And in
this work of silence, our true self emerges” Laurence Freeman OSB
This retreat -at the start of a new year- is an opportunity to learn to meditate in the
Christian tradition and/or to deepen your contemplative practice.
We will spend time together in silence, with the words of teachers and poets giving shape to
the experience of God within us all.
This is a semi silent retreat. After welcome and supper on Friday, we will enter into silence
until lunch together on Sunday.
You are invited to switch off your phone. You are invited to journal, to draw or paint, to
walk. You are invited NOT to read. We are gathering in silence together to listen quietly to
God. We want to give ourselves and each other the best possible opportunity to do this.

I began working at WCCM January 2012 after years in the L’Arche community in London. I have been
meditating for about 17 years now. Meditation has been of huge importance on my faith journey so
far. I have 2 grown up children and I love the seaside, walking and gardening, watching films and
documentaries and listening to music
