Scything Week

Learn the art of scything and scythe maintenance from the experts

Monday 26th June -  Sunday 2nd July 2023

Space is available on this event

This week will be a great opportunity to learn more about scything in the beautiful grounds at Othona. Scything is key to the maintenance of wildflower meadows and is used here to help in the development of new wildflower areas as well as maintaining those already established.

Throughout the week there will be hands-on opportunities to learn, practice and develop new scythe skills with Claire White, an experienced scythe instructor & garden designer, and Jonny Aldridge, our resident Othona scything expert.

Mowing in Othona’s wild flower meadows alongside these practitioners will also give you insight and understanding into the creation and management of meadows and grassland.
