Waiting list available for this event
This retreat is being led by Revd Emma Wylie with the theme of resting and restocking our stores in preparation for winter.
Emma describes her life and ministry as “a messy, priestly journey with people” She grew up in rural Lincolnshire and is now, via a somewhat circuitous route, an Anglican parish priest in Plaistow, East London. She’s wife to Jake who works for London Underground, mum to Arrow who is doing A levels and Sophia who is doing her masters and proud and rather exhausted grandma to 2 and a half year old Fritha. Emma has a passion for journeying with people and has had the privilege of doing this through many different roles from cleaner to Avon lady to second hand book shop worker, to marketing and public relations to breast feeding supporter, church community worker and now priest and spiritual director.
Emma’s own life journey has had its ups and downs and as a member of a very neurodiverse family she has learnt the need to stop, refresh and recharge alongside establishing healthy rhythms through her own failure to do so.
She loves to study and also loves to walk alongside those discerning their vocation and has in the past thoroughly enjoyed working with curates, interns and those on placement and highlighting issues of whole person wellbeing particularly in the church.
Her spirituality is shaped by a diverse church background from Pentecostal to Baptist to Anglo catholic, by her membership of the third order of Franciscans, by her exploration of Celtic spirituality, love of (but total lack of skill in) art, literature, music and creativity and her affinity with the earth.
