‘All creation is gifted with the ecstasy of God’s light’

Hildegard of Bingen – “thousand-year-old wisdom for the 21st century”.

Poet, musician, visionary, healer and fearless campaigner.

Come and discover what she might have to say to us today?

This weekend in Lent is an opportunity to ponder and slow down.

Space to explore Hildegard’s visions of the cosmic Christ,

greening the earth, the interconnectedness of all things.

Through her visions, music and words

we re-learn precious truths about our God, our faith and the world we live in.

We will be uplifted by her music and meditate on her words on creation

in the peace of Othona and the ancient chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall.

There will be space for individual reflection, times of silence and times of sharing.

Brigid Main trained initially as a Speech & Language Therapist. She was ordained in 1999 and for 10 years was Associate Priest at the Retreat House at Pleshey, Essex where her husband was House Manager. She retired as Chaplain to the ancient chapel of St Peter-on-the Wall in Bradwell-on-Sea and now has time to lead retreats. In her spare time she enjoys singing, playing the recorder, knitting and much more! She loves being a spiritual companion and also using her skills to help people develop and care for their voice.

Comments from previous retreats

Who knew a 12th Century German nun has so much to teach us today?

Brigid’s gentle and good-humoured approach makes Hildegard accessible and opens many doors - an ideal way for the beginner to get to know one of the Church’s treasures.

You introduced us to her creativity, through her visions, music and poetry, bringing delight to our senses. She was indeed the surrendered, 'feather on the breath of God".  Hildegard's voice has become louder through you, Brigid and needs to be heard in our generation. May you discover more and continue to tell her story.
