Team Member Vacancies

Resident Team Members, Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex

We are offering an exciting opportunity to serve God and his people in an established Christian Community.

Othona is an open Christian community, welcoming people of all faiths and none, offering residential community and retreat opportunities to individuals, families, and groups. In community we explore the relationship between faith and life and encourage one another in caring for the world and its people. The Othona community is a dispersed community that gathers at its centres for periodic events. The centres are manged by a small group of resident team members, supported by volunteers and the wider community.

We are seeking two full-time resourceful, practical, and committed people to join the resident team at our Bradwell Centre. You will be part of a small team that leads and manages the Centre. We are looking for people with a friendly, flexible approach and a commitment to supporting and enabling community life by upholding the ongoing vision of Othona with its inclusive Christian ethos.

We would welcome applications from couples and individuals. The ability to relate to and welcome our visitors and to maintain a healthy community life for yourself and those you live and work with is essential. The team is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Centre, this includes catering, housekeeping, maintenance, gardening, administration and hosting community and group events. Individuals within the team contribute to these areas according to their gifting and experience. We are looking for people willing to develop their skills and leadership qualities and appropriate training will be provided.

You will live and work as part of an intentional Christian Community, contributing to the daily rhythm of shared “work, worship, study and play”, the four elements of the community rule of life set by our founder Norman Motley.

We are looking for people who are seeking an opportunity to serve God by serving others and being part of a Christian community. We hold regular worship sessions in the nearby Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall in which team members are expected to play an active role.
